

Admission Procedure for B.V.Sc. & A.H.
The total intake of students for the B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course is 45. Out of which,
30 seats are allotted to the students from the Union Territory of Puducherry selected by a Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), Government of Puducherry. The usual reservation policies are followed in the allocation of seats to the students of Puducherry.
5 seats are allotted to the students from other states selected by the Veterinary Council of India based on an all-India entrance examination.
5 seats are allotted to the students from Goa admitted by CENTAC, Government of Puducherry subject to fulfillment of certain conditions laid down by the Pondicherry Veterinary College Society
5 seats will be allotted to NRI and or NRI sponsored candidates admitted through a separate entrance examination conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Puducherry.
New academic session commences during 1st week of September 2010.

Admission Qualification A pass in Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate in Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry (40% for SC candidates)
Age Limit The candidate should be above 17 years as on 31.12.2010 and there is no upper age limit.

Admission Qualification : The students educated abroad seeking admission into Veterinary College in India, must have passed the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English up to the 12th standard level with 50 % marks in individual subjects.
Fees: The annual tuition fee for NRI and or NRI sponsored candidates is Rupees 2 lakhs or its equivalent in US dollars per annum. In addition to the tuition fee, other fees like University fees and Hostel fees for hostel accommodation has to be paid separately.

The Entrance Exam for the NRI / NRI sponsored candidates will be conducted at the Examination Hall, Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kurumbapet, Puducherry-605 009.India at 10.00 a.m. on 17.08.2010.
The syllabus for the examination is equivalent to HSC/PUC of State Board/CBSE . The examination will be in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Biology (Botany & Zoology). Each subject will have 50 multiple choice questions and the duration of the examination will be 2 hours and 30 minutes. <<Click here to download the syllabus>>
You are required to bring an Identity Card with photo & signature attested by a Gazetted officer.
The results of the examination will be announced on 18.08.2010.
If selected for admission, the tuition fee of Rupees 2 lakhs or its equivalent in US dollars should be paid on or before 23.08.2010. The tentative date of registration and orientation is on 23.08.2010 and the tentative date of commencement of classes is 24.08.2010.
All the original certificates have to deposited to this college at the time of registration.
The Tuition fee once paid is not refundable under any circumstances even if the candidate discontinues the course. The amount may be paid by demand draft drawn in favour of Dean, Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences payable at Puducherry.
Report one hour before the scheduled time of commencement of examination and bring with you the xerox copies of all Certificates

Eligibility for admission : The candidate seeking admission to Postgraduate programme leading to M.V.Sc. degree should possess
i) B.V.Sc. / B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree from an institution recognised by Veterinary Council of India (VCI) with a minimum OGPA of 6.0 on 10 point scale (5.0 for SC/ST candidates). In the other grading systems, OGPA/marks will be appropriately proportional to the 10 point grading scale.
ii) The candidate should not have completed the age of 35 years as on 31st December in the year of admission. (Relaxable by 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates).
Application for admission: Application for admission shall be made in the prescribed form to be obtained from the office of the Dean of the College after the notification is issued to this effect. The admissions shall be regulated and made in accordance with the regulations in force.
Number of Seats: The number of seats in each major field of study is three, out of which, two seats are allocated for residential candidates of Puducherry and one seat is allocated to candidates of other states and Union Territories. If sufficient applicants from other states are not available, the seats will not be filled up by any other category and will remain vacant.
Criteria for Residents of Puducherry: Criteria prescribed by the Government of Puducherry from time to time for residents of Puducherry will be followed.
Reservation: Reservation of seats in different fields of study will be according to the reservation policy announced by the Government of Puducherry from time to time for admission to Educational Institutions. The details of reservation for different categories will be indicated in the Information Bulletin for the year of admission.
Selection: Selection of candidates will be based exclusively on marks obtained in the entrance examination.
Entrance Examination: An entrance examination will be conducted by RAGACOVAS, Puducherry on a date and time to be notified. The syllabus for entrance examination will be the syllabus prescribed by the VCI for B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree. The details of entrance examination will be furnished in the information bulletin for admission.
Registration of course: The candidates provisionally selected for admission have to pay the prescribed fee and deposit all the original certificates and transcripts at the time of admission and register for courses on the date specified for the purpose. Failure to pay the required fee and register the courses will result in the cancellation of his /her offer of admission.
