Admission Procedure for B.V.Sc. & A.H.

The total intake of students for the B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course  is  45. Out of  which,    

    New academic session commences on September 10, 2008.

 

1. Admission Notification for admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course under Pondicherry quota for the year 2008-09.

Candidates belonging to the Union Territory of Pondicherry and seeking admission to the first year B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course offered by this college for the academic session 2008-2009 shall apply in the prescribed application form.

Admission Qualification : A pass in Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50 % marks in aggregate in Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry (40% for SC candidates)

Age Limit : The candidate should be above 17 years as on 31.12.2008 and there is no upper age limit.

Application Procedure: Application forms along with information bulletin can be obtained on or after 02.06.2008 and up to 23.06.2008 in person from the  following Post Offices on all working days on payment of Rs. 280/- (Rs. 95 for SC/ST candidates).

Post Offices : Head Post Office-Pondicherry, Pondicherry Engineering College Post Office Extension counter, Bahour, Kandamangalam, Kirumampakkam, Muthialpet, Lawspet,  Madagadipet, Mudaliarpet, Nettapakkam, Thirukkanur, Villianur,     Karaikal  HPO, Thirunallar, Ambakarathur, Nedunkadu, Neravy, Mahe HPO and Yanam HPO.

Application forms can also be obtained by post by sending a request along with two self addressed slips (neatly typed or handwritten)  and a crossed demand drawn in favour of "The Convenor, CENTAC" payable at Pondicherry for Rs.315/-  and Rs.130/- for SC/ST candidates to The Convenor, CENTAC, Pondicherry Engineering College, Pondicherry - 605 014.  Payment by Cheques, Money Orders and Postal Orders will not be accepted. 

Duly completed application form should reach the office of  The  Convenor, Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC), Pondicherry Engineering College, Pondicherry - 605 014 latest by 23rd June, 2008 before 5.00 p.m.

2. All India Common Entrance Examination for Admission to 15 % of seats in Veterinary Colleges, 2008 conducted by Veterinary Council of India. 

 

The request for the Bulletin of Information and Application Form through POSTAL System should reach the office of Veterinary Council of India, "A" Wing, Second Floor, August Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi - 110066 along with the Bank Draft of Rs 750/-  in case of General category and Rs. 400/- in case of SC/ST category from 1st  January, 2008 to 15th  February, 2008.  The Bulletin of Information and Application Form can also be obtained BY HAND on production of Bank Draft for Rs.700/- in case of General category and for Rs.350/- in case of SC/ST category drawn in favour of "Veterinary Council of India", payable at "New Delhi" of any Scheduled bank on any working day between 10.00 AM to 12.00 Noon and 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM from 1st  January, 2008 to 15th February, 2008 from the following offices/centers:

(i) Veterinary Council of India, "A" Wing, 2nd Floor, August Kranti Bhawan, Bhikaji Cama Place, New Delhi - 110066.

(ii) Andaman & Nicobar Veterinary Council C/o, Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, HADDO (PO), Port Blair - 744102.

No correspondence regarding purchase of Bulletin of Information and Application Form will be entertained after the stipulated date. General candidates applying on forms meant for SC/ST category shall be rejected.

 

 

LAST DATE OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION: Form duly filled by candidate should reach the office of the Council latest by 22nd  February, 2008.

 

Forms received after the last date shall not be considered.

3. Admission Procedure for NRI / NRI sponsored candidates for the academic year 2008-09.

 

  1. The application form for NRI / NRI sponsored candidates for admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course can be downloaded by clicking here.  Instructions for NRI candidates may be downloaded by clicking here. Completed application form should be submitted along with a Demand Draft for Indian Rs.500/- drawn in favour of “Dean, PVCS, Pondicherry”  payable at Pondicherry to  “The Dean, Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kurumbapet, Pondicherry – 605 009. India “ .The Last date for submitting filled in application form is 14.08.2008.  

  2. Admission Qualification : The students educated abroad seeking admission into Veterinary College in India, must have passed the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English up to the 12th standard level with 50 % marks in individual subjects.

  3. Fees: The annual tuition fee for NRI and or NRI sponsored candidates is  US $ 4000 per annum or Rupees 2 lakhs.  In addition to the tuition fee, other fees like University fees and Hostel fees for hostel accommodation has to be paid separately.

  4. The sponsor should furnish an undertaking in the form of affidavit  regarding all payments. <click here> to down load the sponsor’s undertaking form.  

  5. The Entrance Exam for the NRI / NRI sponsored candidates will be conducted at the Examination Hall, Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Kurumbapet, Pondicherry-605 009.India at 10.00 a.m. on 22.08.2008.

  6. The  syllabus for the examination is equivalent to HSC/PUC of State Board/CBSE . The examination will be in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Biology (Botany & Zoology).  Each subject will have 50 multiple choice questions and the duration of the examination will be 2 hours and 30 minutes. <<Click here to download the syllabus>>

  7. You are required to bring an Identity Card with photo & signature attested by a Gazetted officer.

  8. The results of the examination will be announced on the same day by 4.00 p.m. 

  9.  If selected for admission, the tuition fee of US $4000 or Rupees 2 lakhs should be paid  on or before 29th   August, 2008 and attend classes from September 10, 2008 after registration.  All the original certificates have to deposited to this college at the time of registration.

  10. The Tuition fee once paid is not refundable under any circumstances even if the candidate discontinues the course.  The amount may be paid by demand draft drawn in favour of Dean, Rajiv Gandhi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences payable at Pondicherry.

  11. Report one hour before the scheduled time of commencement of examination and bring with you the xerox copies of all Certificates

Eligibility for admission : The candidate seeking admission to Postgraduate programme leading to M.V.Sc. degree should possess

i) B.V.Sc. / B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree from an institution recognised by Veterinary Council of India   

   (VCI) with a minimum OGPA of 6.0 on 10 point scale (5.0 for SC/ST candidates). In the other 

   grading systems, OGPA/marks will be appropriately proportional to the 10 point grading scale.

 

ii) The candidate should not have completed the age of 35 years as on 31st December in the 

     year of admission. (Relaxable by 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates).

Application for admission: Application for admission shall be made in the prescribed form to be obtained from the office of the Dean of the College after the notification is issued to this effect. The admissions shall be regulated and made in accordance with the regulations in force.

Number of Seats: The number of seats in each major field of study is three, out of which, two seats are allocated for residential candidates of Pondicherry and one seat is allocated to candidates of other states and Union Territories. If sufficient applicants from other states are not available, the seats will not be filled up by any other category and will remain vacant.

Criteria for Residents of Pondicherry:  Criteria prescribed by the Government of Pondicherry from time to time for residents of Pondicherry will be followed.

 Reservation:  Reservation of seats in different fields of study will be according to the reservation policy announced by the Government of Pondicherry from time to time for admission to Educational Institutions. The details of reservation for different categories will be indicated in the Information Bulletin for the year of admission.

Selection: Selection of candidates will be based exclusively on marks obtained in the entrance examination.

Entrance Examination: An entrance examination will be conducted by RAGACOVAS, Pondicherry on a date and time to be notified. The syllabus for entrance examination will be the syllabus prescribed by the VCI for B.V.Sc. & A.H. Degree. The details of entrance examination will be furnished in the information  bulletin for admission.

Registration of course: The candidates provisionally selected for admission have to pay the prescribed fee and deposit all the original certificates and transcripts at the time of admission and register for courses on the date specified for the purpose. Failure to pay the required fee and register the courses will result in the cancellation of his /her offer of admission.
