Facilities
All equipments and laboratory wares needed to conduct practical classes to B.V.Sc. & A.H. students including Bio-Visual charts.
Advanced laboratory equipments to analyse Nitrogen / Protein, Fat and Fibre of feeds and fodder
"Galenkamp" Adiabatic Auto bomb calorimeter for energy estimation.
Experimental Animal House (23.74m x 10.71m) to conduct metabolism trials in Cattle / Buffaloes (6 Nos.) and Sheep / Goats (6 Nos.) and growth and metabolism trials in Poultry (16 cells x 15 birds = 240 Nos.). It has modern in-built metabolism stalls (6 Nos.) for large ruminants to facilitate "near-the-normal" environment to the animal during collection period and metabolic cages for sheep / goats (4 Nos.) and Poultry (12 Nos.).
Electronic weighing balances of 6 kg, 150 kg and 1000kg to facilitate weighing of livestock and poultry and feed & fodder.
Other Activities
Suggesting feeding schedule to the livestock and poultry of the Instructional Farm Complex of the Dept. of LPM and APM. Procurement and issue of feeds to the Instruactional Farm Complex.
Feed Quality Control Activities
Undertakes Analysis of Feeds and Fodders received from the Department of Animal Husbandry & Animal Welfare, Government of Pondicherry, PONLAIT and Department of LPM and APM of this College for their chemical composition.
Research Activities
Collaborative Research Work with Kemin Nutritional Technologies (India) Pvt. Ltd. was conducted from 22.04.2003 to 17.06.2003 on "To study the efficiency of different enzymes in broiler performance mainly on energy and protein utilisation"
