Sensitization Programme on Digital Payment Systems conducted at RIVER
Five sensitization programmes on Digital Payment Systems were conducted for the students, staff and Faculty of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (RIVER), Puducherry on 02.01.2017, 12.01.2017, 27.01.2017, 01.02.2017 and 07.02.2017 in the presence of Dean of the Institute. A total of 193 students, 30 non-teaching staff and 20 faculty members participated in those programme. The importance of cashless transactions and the various modes of cashless transactions like Plastic Money (Debit / Credit / Prepaid Cards), Net Banking (NEFT / RTGS / IMPS), USSD – Unstructured Supplementary Service Data, UPI- Unified Payment Interface, BHIM – Bharat Interface for Money, AEPS – Aadhar Enabled Payment System and E-WALLETS were highlighted in the presentation. A demonstration using BHIM app was made for actually transferring money using Virtual Payment Address and Scan & Pay option using QR code. The students and faculty were impressed upon to play a proactive role and contribute to this transformational shift and encouraged to register as volunteers at VISAKA portal to upload their success stories.
Further, another sensitization programme on "POS Machines and Possible Digital Transactions Methods for Vendors" was conducted for the NSS students of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (RIVER), Puducherry on 12.01.2017. All the 54 NSS students of the college attended this programme. After the programme, the NSS students were taken to the Kurumbapet Village near the College. The NSS students, in groups, visited 18 shops and interacted with the shop owners highlighting the various digital transaction methods and about the POS machine. The shop owners showed keen interest to go digital very soon.
